Strengthen your intuition and improve your confidence, safety, fun and results with your horse
Noticing your intuition when you are around your horse is the first step to dramatically improving your confidence, safety, fun and results. And believe me, I mean dramatically…
The first step to this improvement of intuition is to notice when you feel something that I call Not Quite Right, when you are around your horse.
Not Quite Right is a slightly uneasy feeling, an early warning signal if you like, that something is not OK.
I’ve noticed as I’ve been teaching that other people experience Not Quite Right in many other ways – a yukky feeling in the solar plexus, little butterflies in the stomach, a tight feeling in the throat, aches or pains or discomfort in various of the body, a feeling of dread, anxiety or heaviness or even just an absence of peace or joyfulness.
The bottom line is, when you notice something change when you are around your horse, then that would probably be the Not Quite Right feeling that I’m talking about here. I suggest that you don’t get hooked into how other people do it, because comparison to other people is not useful when you are strengthening your own intuition.
I’ve been teaching a lovely lady called Tammy in a clinic at Bruthen this last week. Tammy (with her horse Dana in the photo below) laughed when she told me that when she read me talking about having bubbles of joy when you are around your horse, that she thought I was being a bit lame. Well, thank goodness she doesn’t think that any more (I am smiling here) as she has experienced the bubbles of joy that came from herself and her horse when she acted on Not Quite Right, consistently.

Tammy & Dana, bubbling with joy
And there is nothing lame about bubbles of joy around your horse, believe me! It’s very, very special.
Tammy improved her skills with her horse, improved her confidence and her safety and her fun the minute she started noticing Not Quite Right and acted on those feelings. And with a bit of practice, that improvement was dramatic.
So why don’t you give it a go?
Here’s what you can do to take some first steps towards the confidence, safety and the fun that comes from that, that Tammy has and that you are entitled to have when you are around your horse:
- Before you get out of the car or the house to go to your horse, take a minute or so to notice everything about how you feel, so that you can notice what changes when you are with your horse.
- Then when you are around your horse, notice whenever you feel a change from that initial feeling. That change will probably be the Not Quite Right that I have been talking about here.
- Spend a quiet moment with your horse to figure out what it might be that you have to change, to act on that feeling of Not Quite Right. It could be anything from changing a piece of tack, to getting off while you figure out what is Not Quite Right.
- If you get it right … if you understand and act on the feeling of Not Quite Right in the right way … the feeling will go away.
Have fun with that as you go out to your horse today and pop this website into favourites or scroll down the right hand side of the page to find the “suscribe” “feed it” button so that you get notified every time I put a new article up here on the blog. This information is only a tiny, tiny part of the wonderful book and audio lesson set, Zen Connection with Horses.
Tammy started with Zen Connection with Horses and had already made big strides of progress before the clinic this week. The clinic just accelerated what she was doing.
Here’s a comment from Tammy.
Thanks again Jenny, for an amazing week at our clinic. It still amazes me how much of a difference the Not Quite Right has made to my relationship with Dana. I feel so safe all the time now, and that is HUGE for me, as I was nervous all the time before. Too scared to even sit on her back in the round yard most of the time, and now after such a short period of time I am happy riding out in the paddocks on my own. Thanks again for sharing this wonderful gift with us.
Zen Connection with Horses is getting rave reviews from all kinds of riders – from world class horse people to beginner riders. It has wonderful life changing insights and step by step instructions to a wonderful connection with your horse and the practical and very special results that come from that.
