She used to be one of the ten most scared horses I ever met

bree-kissing-blondieHere’s a series of photos of little Miss Bree, my three year old grandaughter with her miniature pony Blondie, who used to be one of the ten most scared horses I ever met.

This series of photos show Bree starting Blondie herself, previously known as “breaking in”.  Mum Mel still leads her for the ridden work.

Here’s Bree showing Blondie that there’s nothing to be frightened of underneath the see saw.

Bree on Blondie for her first ride.  Can you see the pony’s soft little ears in this photo?  Mum, Melissa is ready to lift Bree off if anything becomes not OK.

Bree & Blondie on their second ride, lots of confidence from both of them.

Their confidence feeds each other – their are both in their comfort zones.

And here’s at least part of the reason this tiny horse is so good with this child.  When she was helped to get over her fear of having her feet trimmed, her other fears were dramatically reduced too.  Here’s Cat, our hoof trimmer extraordinaire, trimming Blondie’s feet at liberty.

And here’s Bree leading Blondie by the face to Cat to have her feet trimmed. Sorry I’ll fix this sideways photo later.

They are sooo…. cute!

This terrified little pony and this used to be scared little girl got to be like this by helping them to find their deep comfort zones.

Bree found her deep comfort zone when we taught her how to make herself not only BE safe, but to FEEL safe around horses.

We used the trauma releasing techniques in Zen Connection with Horses to help Blondie find her deep comfort zone.  And here she is, just humming with joyfulness with her little girl…
