Horses are powerful beings

It appears that I am to come out of the closet even further than I already have…  and I thought that I had come pretty far out of the closet with my books “Bobby’s Diaries, Straight From the Horse’s Mouth to You” and then even further with “Zen Connection with Horses”.

We have a wonderful worldwide movement gaining ground, where the mental, emotional and physical well being of the horse is being promoted and abuse of horses in all kinds of ways is being changed.  The changes range from dramatic neglect and torturous practices to practices that were considered normal, but are now no longer acceptable to many thinking horse people.

There’s a whole bunch of people out there almost simultaneously developing beautiful ways of being with horses.  It is a cascading effect of wonderful things happening in the horse world.

It makes the contrast of the shocking abuse stories that we see, even more shocking.

So here’s a thought from me about how we (you reading this article and me writing it) how we ordinary people can help these horses change their destiny.

Some of you reading this article are going to get it like a bolt from the blue, some of you will nod your heads, because you already knew this and some will wonder what planet I just got off of, because it is about my beliefs and your beliefs could be quite different.  If you are in the last category (because everything happens for a reason) then you are here, reading this article for a reason.  The whole article may not be your cup of tea – but if it prompts you to think about what you believe in, then that is a good deal and will be for the benefit of the horse.

When we see abuse of a horse, particularly the shocking kinds of abuse, the natural thing for us is to feel outrage.  We feel rage and despair that humans can even go there.  Some of us feel rage and despair about things that some people in the horse world consider quite normal, yet are shockingly unnatural or painful to both the body and spirit of a horse.

When we see something as shockingly abusive (yes, lot’s of “shocking”’s here!) as the horse with the blue tongue in the Rollkur video that is doing the rounds at the moment, (I’ll put the link to this video clip at the end of this article) and in other situations as bad, or worse, then the first thing we do is to react, emotionally.

After the reaction, we might ask ourselves -

  • “What can we personally do for these horses?”  and
  • “How can we help change this?”

Even bigger questions to ask ourselves would be -

  • “How can we personally make a difference to this kind and any other kind of abuse?”
  • How can we help this horse to change its life?”  Notice here that I am talking about the horse changing its own life.
  • “Who do we need to be or what do we need to do, to make it possible for these people to change these abusive situations?” I ask this question because the ideal outcome is for the person to change their behaviour and our condemnation rarely produces the kind of change that we are looking for.
  • “Who do we need to be or what do we need to do, to support this powerful horse being who is capable of creating his own destiny?”

This last question is so important, because I sooo… know all the way to my bones that horses are powerful beings creating their own destiny.  How I am so sure about that is a distraction at the moment and another story for another time.

My rage that I feel about that blue tongued horse as a victim gets in his road of him creating the destiny that he wants.  When I look at this horse with pity as a victim, I help to create a victim

But if I have the passion that comes from my place of power, THAT helps the blue tongued horse change his world.

So what is this place of power?  And how do we find it?

Our feelings are just messages from our souls, that inner part of us that is us, and when we understand the message of that feeling – it goes away, instantly.  I’ve written books about that subject and although it’s a big statement to some of you reading this article, I have helped hundreds and hundreds of people, maybe even thousands now, to find peace and happiness in their lives from that understanding.  Email me jenny@bookswithspirit.  com (take the space out) and ask for the pass along book Pathway to Heaven on Earth if you want to know how I arrived at that statement.  You read it and decide whether you would enjoy to pay for it or not.

My place of power comes from asking myself, getting the message and then acting on, “what is it that I need to know or do for that rage and despair about that horse to go away?”

When the feelings are gone, when I’ve got their message, then I am in a place of power where I can get the insights that I need, so that I can know how best I can help this and other similar suffering horses create their own destiny more powerfully.  That’s a complicated sentence, but I hope you get my meaning.

Horses being powerful beings creating their own destiny, is a pretty big concept.   Some people are still struggling with the concept of humans being powerful beings creating their own destiny, let alone acknowledging that a horse can do it.

But for validation of that as a hypothesis, you only have to look at what is happening around the world – at this wonderful world wide movement of people considering the mental, emotional, physical and even spiritual well being of the horse, that is gaining momentum, faster and faster.

This world wide movement, has been prompted by all kinds of people from all areas of horsemanship and all kinds of backgrounds.  There are people of a deeply spiritual path, there are scientists, there are brilliant horsemen and horsewomen and ordinary horse lovers and every kind of person in between who are taking up the cause of change for horses.

People like Stormy May with her beautiful DVD “The Path of the Horse” to Gerd Heuschmann’s brilliant DVD that I saw last week called “If Horses Could Speak”.  I’ve put links to both their websites at the bottom of this article.

I’ve talked and even raved about Stormy May’s DVD before.  She went looking for the world’s best horsemen and her DVD is a collection of footage and discussion with an amazing group of men and women that Stormy May discovered, who have developed a completely different way of being with horses.

Gerd Heuschmann is a German vet who is coming from a scientific point of view to change the way that horses are treated and “trained” in modern dressage training.  He brings to our attention the damage to the horse caused by Rollkur.

Rollkur is a painful, over bent, nose on the chest, excruciatingly unnatural neck position that some (many by the looks of it) elite dressage riders, even world champions, are using to warm their horses up.

Gerd shows us that you can notice the horses who trained with Rollkur by the movement of their legs and lack of true collection.  He points out that while dressage judges are rewarding horses trained like this, then dressage itself is  continuing the problem of the pain caused by this training method.

“If Horses Could Speak” is one of the “do not miss” DVD’s.  Along with “The Path of the Horse”, I will show it at every clinic from now on.

So here’s the big deal.  All of us ordinary horse lovers look at stuff like Rollkur generally, the blue tongued horse video specifically and other even more horrifying horse abuse and would love to change it.  But what can we do?  What can us ordinary people do?

We are much, much more powerful than we think.  I am smiling as I am writing that sentence.  Yes, we are amazingly powerful beings.

The Universal law, the Law of Attraction, says that we attract what energy we put out.  So if we put out despair and rage about that horse’s abuse, then we are attracting more despair and rage, thus perpetuating the things that cause us to feel despair and rage.

Think about that previous sentence for a minute, it’s a big one!  For more insight about the Law of Attraction as it relates to people with horses, then at the bottom of this blog, there are two links to Lif Strand’s blogspot for a couple of articles that I really enjoyed on this topic.

Here’s another way of looking at it.

If we feel rage and despair without looking at what it is that we need to know or do to change our feelings, then we are ignoring the message and because we don’t get that message, we are missing our best opportunity to help these horses get genuine and useful change.

There are two big, world changing insights about the same concept, right there.

So, if we use some method like the Magic Questions in Zen Connection with Horses (there are many other methods, but this is the one that I know best), we will get the answers that we need to specifically help that particular horse and other horses like him, in his journey for change.

We will all get different answers to our questions – my answer is unlikely to be your answer, anyway.

But our answers, whether it was something for us to know, or something for us to do, will each and everyone, help the blue tongued horse find his place of power as he creates his own destiny.

There are sooo…  many people listening to horses,  so many people “training” alternatively, so many people connecting to them, so many people relating to horses in new and exciting ways that are developing day by day.  It’s a wonderfully changing and exciting world that we live in right now – as The Horse is individually and as a species, manifesting his own destiny.

Have fun thinking about what you believe and how you as an individual can contribute to positive change in the horse world.  But here’s my suggestion for you today.  Whatever you think of my beliefs in this regard, take some kind of action about horse abuse that brings peace to your heart.

Much love to all,  Jenny Pearce
