Connection with the Herd
Over the last fortnight, in New Zealand, 5 extraordinary people gathered, off and on, for an experience that’s just about blown my mind hearing bits and pieces about it yesterday.
They’ve been in the place where time stands still for long periods of time and can reproduce that almost at will. This is where they could just “be” in the moment, for no other reason than just to “be”. The horses and the other animals reacted in extraordinary ways (my normally reasonable vocabulary is just not good enough here, I’m sorry!) The details are theirs to tell.
One of those people is an Australian girl, the others New Zealanders, two of them have little or no horse experience. What one of those totally inexperienced people did with the horses, including the two little kaimanewas (who had only been there 3 months or so) and what they did even with wild animals was extraordinary. What the whole group were doing was extraordinary.
They’ve used their connection with the horses to expand their consciousness and connect with everything, each other and with all of life in a way that has left me with my jaw hanging on the ground. I spent a large part of the conversation yesterday with my mouth open, with just as much time shaking my head in wonder.
My Australian friend told me that they achieved this through meticulously working with Not Quite Right with the horses and each other – listening to every aspect of their connection with each other and the animals and even the earth around them.
She told me that they achieved this through working through some deep conflicts to understand their feelings about each conflict, getting the “messages” and taking action on them – and this extraordinary expansion of consciousness was the result.
They’ve all been working to listen to Not Quite Right, both in and out of horses, for at least three months now.
She told me that group healing, working with one to affect healing on many (sharing the healing within the herd) was a strong theme of the fortnight. I wonder if that’s the reason for the beautiful acceleration? They defined “the herd” as every living thing around them (no matter what species, all the way to the earth itself). My God the coincidences here are just incredible – it can’t be a coincidence that we’ve been exploring “healing many by healing one” here in the January clinic and afterwards too!
The other messages/themes of their fortnight, coming up repeatedly, were:
- Everything needs to be as if you were writing large and bold, in crayon not in cryptic (i.e. do things large and boldly and clearly and other people will be able to understand you. Nothing needs to be complex, everything is simple.
- Let it be and it will come (i.e. when you want to understand the message of your feelings and the understanding and insights don’t come straight away, then “Let it be and it will come”.
- Step into your power and trust the voice within.
- About not making people wrong in our righteousness.
- About having all the time in the world. This one was about how we allow our selves AND other people to push us for “faster” “Now” “finish at” “gotta be done by” etc and don’t pay attention to our Not Quite Right s , figure them out and take action on them.
- Look outside the square – when it comes to working out your Not Quite Rights – be prepared to look outside of what you think you know for the answer. Not Quite Right is just what it sounds like – that feeling you get when someting is not quite right, before your emotions escalate and you feel frightened or angry or frustrated.
These people are all students of mine at one time or another, all bringing all their other skills into the Zen Connection that I taught them – so each persons journey with that connection is quite, quite, different and unique.
If these students in New Zealand can have that expansion of consciousness through working through conflict like this, then so can we. Click here for a look at the book that gave them the skills, Zen Connection with Horses.
