Even launching  on Thanksgiving weekend, the international group only had two places left at the end of the day and they are now taken too.

So, we are completely sold out now!  If anyone is interested in going on the reserve list give me an email because we don’t actually start the course until the 3rd week in January.

When I first started this work, it was about helping horses and people be with each other without fear. That was an excellent first step – but there was much better to come.

It happened a few years ago, at the very first clinic where we all consistently blew into a joyous feeling with our horses.

We had three very special New Zealand friends who had flown over for that clinic. One of them, a self styled Maori chick, (hello Tiriana!) was really into wriggling her hips in a kind of Maori hula and singing words from the song “Doin’ a little dance” whenever she hit another joyous moment – and there were lots of joyous moments and lots of singing the “doin’ a little dance” song.

My daughter Mel had a broken foot and she and her 3 year old daughter Bree were watching the clinic from the sidelines. I can still picture tiny Bree wriggling her hips and singing the song as she shared our joy at what everyone was getting with their horses. The joy was contagious and she was sooo…. cute!

They even got me wriggling my hips too and that sooo… was not my normal way of being!

The words “Doin’ a little dance” became a mantra for all of us for those joyous moments with our horses – and it still is all these years later – complete with hip wriggling.

So may you all “do a little dance” of joy with us! Feel free to join in the hip wriggling!

It fits my image of what I Just Say YES! to, because of the obviously beautiful relationship between Carolyn and the horse, because of the way Panadero goes from being playful and expressive, to instantly listening and doing what she asks, because his stride is soft and rhythmic most of the time, his back is elevated most of the time and he is carrying himself beautifully most of the time.  I can just see how this relationship on the ground is going to translate to stunningly beautiful saddle work. Sheer poetry…

Graeme is an agricultural scientist, radical by some standards, who specialises in a big picture, holistic approach to land and stock management – helping people regenerate native pastures in a way that sequesters more carbon than trees do.  And he says the fastest and easiest and cheapest way to do that is with hard footed animals such as horses and cattle.  

Yep, I agree with you, that’s a big statement, but he claims he can back that up. 

Certainly, what he explained to a bunch of us here at Tanjil South last Friday, will cost us very little, save a heap of money and make a significant contribution to saving the environment at the same time.  Yes that really is right, cost little, save heaps and be seriously environmentally progressive.  

Just picture it, us destructive horse owners (yes, I am being facetious) leading the way in farming for the future of the earth itself!

We were doing a saddling demonstrsation on young Boots, showing the clinic participants how we went about getting him back into his deep comfort zone after a fright with his saddle – when we suddenly realised that all the horses in the clinic were watching and giving physical signs that they were either releasing resistance or processing old trauma. 

One of these watching horses I had categorized as one of the ten most scared horses I had ever come across.  He was so profoundly effected, that afterwards he was like a “clean slate” – like a baby foal starting again, but this time with the opportunity to do it better.
